The Qur'an explains the importance of water in various aspects of life, starting from the creation of all its beings to ongoing blessings provided in enlivening dry lands. Without water, the survival of living things would not be possible in this world and it shows our immense dependence on water that we rarely think about. In the selected verses, Allah has demonstrated to people the functions of water in the form of natural lakes, seas, oceans that provide habitat for millions of species of flora and fauna that play an essential role in maintaining the complex ecological system. Given the essential role and status of water in the world, it becomes mandatory for human beings to appreciate the Creator of all and express gratitude, not only for supporting our lives, but also for exercising our duty as the khalifa of this earth. Thus, it becomes a necessity to preserve this vital resource to ensure the perpetuation of fundamental functions of life on Earth.
Misuse of water is tantamount to desecrating it, as it will disrupt the balanced ecological system that sustains life. This blessing in the form of water should be used with gratitude to Allah and discretion in all aspects of our water consumption.
How can you ignore God when you were lifeless and He gave you life, when He will let you die and then raise you up to be brought back to Him? It was He who created for you all that is on earth, then turned to heaven and made the seven heavens; It is He who has knowledge of all things. [Prophet], when your Lord said to the angels: "I am putting a successor on earth," they said, "How can you put someone there who will cause harm and bloodshed, when we celebrate Your praise and proclaim Your holiness?" but He said, "I know things you don't know."
Remember that Moses prayed for water for his people and we said to him, "Strike the rock with your staff." Twelve springs gushed out and each group knew its watering hole. "Do not eat and drink the food god has provided and corruption in the land."
People, eat what is good and lawful of the earth and do not follow Satan's footsteps, for he is your sworn enemy.
God commands you [people] to return things entrusted to you to their rightful owners, and, if you judge between people, to do so with righteousness: God's instructions to you are excellent, for He hears and sees everything.
It is He who has made you successors on earth, elevating some of you above others in rank, to test you through what He gives you. [Prophet], your Lord is quick in punishment, but He is very forgiving and merciful
We have established you [people] on earth and provided you with a means of existence there – little thank you that you give!
Do not spoil the earth after it has been put right, call on Him to fear and hope. The mercy of God is close to those who do good. It is God who sends the winds, with good news of His coming grace, and when they have gathered the heavy clouds, We drive them to a dead land where We drop rain, bringing forth all kinds of crops, just as We will bring forth the dead. Won't you think?
If the people of those cities had believed god and been mindful, we would have showered them with blessings from the heavens and the earth, but they rejected the truth, and so We punished them for their misdeeds.
It is God who raised up the heavens without visible supports and then established himself on the throne; He has each subjected the sun and the moon to following his course for a certain time; He arranges all things and makes the revelations clear so that you can be sure that you will meet your Lord; It is He who spread out the earth, laid firm mountains and rivers on it, and made two of all kinds of fruits; He pulls the veil of night over the day. There are real signs in it for people who reflect. There are, on land, neighboring plots, gardens of vineyards, cornfields, palm trees in clusters or otherwise, all watered with the same water, but we make some of them taste better than others: there are real signs in this for people who reason.
It is up to God that everything in heaven and earth submits, every beast that moves, even the angels, they are free from arrogance.
It is God who sends water down from heaven and thereby revives the earth when it is dead. There's really a sign in it for people who are listening. You also have a lesson with cattle: We give you a drink from the contents of their bellies, between waste and blood, pure milk, sweet for the drinker. From the fruits of date palms and grapes you take sweet juice and healthy facilities. There's a real sign in this for people who use their minds. And your Lord inspired the bee by saying, "Build yourself houses in the mountains and trees and what people build. Then feed on all kinds of fruit and follow the paths made easy for you by your Lord." From their bellies comes a drink of different colors in which there is healing for people. There really is a sign in it for those who think.
Do not walk arrogantly on the earth: you cannot break it open, nor match the mountains in height.
The seven heavens and the earth and everyone in them glorify Him. There is nothing that does not celebrate His praise, although you do not understand their praise: He is the most tolerant, the most forgiving.
It is we who will inherit the earth and all who are on it: they will all be returned to Us.
It was He who spread the earth for you and mapped out routes in it. He sent water from the air. With that water we produce every kind of plant, so eat and let your cattle graze. There are real signs in all of this for people of understanding. From the earth We have created you, in which We will bring you back, and from there We will raise you up a second time.
Are the unbelievers not aware that the heavens and the earth used to be connected and that We were tearing them apart, that We were making every living being out of water? Won't they believe it? And We put firm mountains on the earth, lest she swing under them, and set wide paths on them, so that they might follow in the right direction, and We made heaven a well-secured canopy, but from its wonders they turn away.
and made Solomon understand the matter [better], though We both gave good judgment and knowledge. We let the mountains and the birds celebrate our praise with David - We did all these things.
People, [remember], if you doubt the resurrection, that We created you out of dust, then a drop of liquid, then an adhesive form, then a lump of flesh, both shaped and unformed: We mean to make our power clear to you. Whatever We choose We make sure that we stay in the womb for a certain amount of time, then We bring you forth as babies and then you grow and reach adulthood. Some die young and some are left to live at such an age that they forget everything they ever knew. You sometimes see the earth lifeless, but when We send water down, it stirs and swells and produces any kind of joyful growth.
Do you not realize [Prophet] that everything in the heavens and the earth submits to God: the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees and the animals? That also applies to many people, although for many others punishment is well deserved. Anyone who has fallen into disgrace by God will have no one to honor him: God does what He wants.
Haven't you thought about how God has made everything on earth a service to you? That ships sail the sea at His command? That He prevents the heavens from falling to earth without His permission? God is very merciful and very merciful to humanity
